Weekly Jewelry Designer Spotlight

Starting now, every week, I will be putting the spotlight on a new jewelry designer, to showcase unique types of jewelry making and different techniques.  This will hopefully broaden your view of jewelry and maybe help you discover a new favorite artist or technique!

This week’s Jewelry Designer Spotlight is on NYC’s own Pamela Love:

“I Love being an outsider and I will be an outsider forever.” -Pamela Love, NYC Jewelry Designer

Pamela Love didn’t start out as a jewelry designer, she actually worked as a stylist, set designer and even a painter before she started her now iconic jewelry line in 2007.  Her impressive list of collaborations was what brought her into the spotlight, that impressive list includes some big name designers such as Zac Posen (F/W 2009), Yigel Azrouel (F/W 2010), Marchesa (S/S 2009), her continuing work for designer Frank Tell and she has even created special lines for movies like Where the Wild Things Are and popular Television shows like True Blood.

Where The Wild Things Are Collection:

HBO’s True Blood Collaboration:

She has an incredible design aesthetic, using bones from different animals and casting them in metal, braided and fringe leather strips and natural feathers to create these one of a kind rough, edgy pieces that have created a huge celebrity and model following.  Her list of clients include, Models Lily Donaldson and Raquel Zimmermann, Actresses Julia Restoin-Roitfeld, Kristen Stewart and Mary-Kate Olson, among many others.
